IT’S TIME TO SAY GOOD-BYE!
I am sending home some extra work
practice sheets for your child to do over the summer to
keep their skills in motion. May I also suggest that
you go to the internet and google “second grade
interactive activities”;this may curve their boredom
from time to time!
SAILING INTO SUMMER
The time has come and we say good-bye to an incredibly great year! It
was of great pleasure to teach your (child)ren. I
firmly believe that they have continued to build upon
their foundation towards a great future in their
education. We have learned many new and exciting things
this school year. I have seen much growth, not only in
their physical appearance, but much growth
academically. I am happy to say that your child is
ready for what lies ahead in third grade. There will be
many new challenges and mountains to climb as they take
that bend in the road, where more mature and independent
tasks will be involved in their next facet of their
learning.
Please do not allow your child’s minds to be stashed like the book bag
at the end of the school year. When you hear the first
words of “I’m bored”, it’s time to start keeping in tune
with reading and math skills in particular. A must is
to have your child read, read, read, and practice math
facts, math facts, math facts! Next year not only will
they be responsible for knowing addition and subtraction
facts, but add multiplication to that list as well. As
I’ve said all year, knowing math facts is helpful all
the way around when adding to the tier of learning
multiplication and even division facts next year. It’s
always easier to keep up, then trying to catch up.
My wish is for everyone to have a very fun and safe summer and return
in August ready to pick up where they left off May 27th!!
Thank you all for working with me this school year; it was a great
year! If I could, I would retain each and every one of
your children, so I could have them again next year;
they’re the BEST!
Happy Summer,
Mrs. Scannell
